Technical Application Architect

Tiempo-Completo Analysis of complex business processes and integrations with the goal of designing the Information Systems solutions to enable the communication between business applications.

Typical duties/responsibilities for information systems may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Development of complex system design specifications that will permit application development to be executed internally in ABB or by 3rd party Vendor
- Validation of effort estimates provided by development resources
- Development of Test Cases and Scenarios to ensure quality of Information Systems solution. Perform internal acceptance testing before delivery of solution to the internal businesses for testing.
- Management of source code for all deliveries from development resources.
- Management of selective projects and 3rd party application developers until successful implementation of the solution.
- Maintenance of existing or new application and integrations which are released in a production environment, including tuning and software upgrades
- Implementation of software / package installations
- Coordination of application and server rebuilds
- Management of small application and integration project delivery.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (3-4 years)
Computer Science Degree or Equivalent.
Interpersonal Skills:
Communicate effectively, Analytical, Customer orientation, Flexibility and self learning, Manage projects, Problem solving.
Languages:
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Good written and verbal communication skills in French a plus.
Specifific Skills:Software Development.
Work Experience:
- 3 - 5 years related IS application experience.
- 2 - 3 years Microsoft SQL Server database experience
- 1 - 2 years Microsoft .NET Framework experience, specifically using the C# development language
- 1 - 2 years experience in domain of Enterprise Applications Integrations (EAI) is a valuable asset
- 1 - 2 years experience in designing Microsoft BizTalk 2006 solutions is a valuable asset
- 2 - 3 years XML data and schema design experience
- Knowledge of Universal Modeling Language (UML) is a valuable asset.
Additional Skills:
Requires broad knowledge of information systems and ability to cost-effectively provide solutions that will bring business value. Requires strong analytical skills, initiative and ingenuity to solve complex problems and implement remedial measures. Requires strong communications skills to discuss and negotiate resolution of controversial issues with Businesses and 3rd party suppliers. Requires the skills to work independently and in a geographically distributed Team. Errors in decisions may result in delays, rework and adversely impact customer and ABB business relations.
